Prolepsis Institute participated in the Cluster Meeting in Budapest organized by the Executive Agency of the European Commission (Chafea)

Nutrition and Physical Activity: How the European Union contributes to public health priorities including obesity


The Prolepsis Institute participated in the two-day cluster meeting organized by CHAFEA (European Commission’s Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency), DG SANTE (European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety) and the Hungarian Ministry of Human Capacities from November 30 to December 2 in Budapest. The aim of the Cluster Meeting was to showcase successful projects in the areas of nutrition and physical activity that can be carried out by policy makers, schools and the community.

Afroditi Veloudaki, General Director of Prolepsis Institute presented the DIATROFI Program as a best practice intervention aiming to combat food insecurity and promote children’s health. Furthermore, Ms Veloudaki presented the vocational training project HeaRT (Health Reporting Training Project) in which the Prolepsis Institute participated as the coordinating partner. HeaRT lead to the development of integrated educational tools and projects on health reporting addressed to journalists.

The meeting gathered together representatives of the World Health Organization and the European Commission, managing authorities of European programs as well as media representatives specializing in health issues. Specific actions undertaken at European and national level aiming to address unhealthy modern lifestyle were presented and a fruitful dialogue was engaged between journalists, healthcare providers, social workers and scientists responsible for implementing health promotion programs.
