October 16th: World Food Day
National Dietary Guidelines and the Food Aid and Promotion of Healthy Nutrition Program-DIATROFI
Two of the most important projects of Prolepsis Institute which greatly contribute to the promotion of health among the population were presented this week with the occasion of the World Food Day.
The National Dietary Guidelines for the general adult population, women, adolescents, children and the elderly are accessible to all from the following webpage: www.diatrofikoiodigoi.gr .
The Food Aid and Promotion of Healthy Nutrition Program-DIATROFI is being implemented for the fifth continuous school year having distributed since 2012, more than 11 million meals, to approximately 450 schools in socioeconomically vulnerable areas and 75.000 students across Greece.
Support for the DIATROFI Program is more necessary than ever before as the resources currently secured can cover only 100 schools with 7.500 students in total.
Since the beginning of this school year, 2.032 schools from all over Greece have applied to take part in the Program. This number corresponds to 16% of all public schools in Greece and approximately 250.000 students.
We embrace all efforts to include as many schools as possible in the DIATROFI Program. Learn more from http://diatrofi.prolepsis.gr and take part in the campaign “NO MORE HUNGRY CHILDREN AT SCHOOL”.
