"Building partnerships against crisis: The DIATROFI Program as an example of good practice CSR".

Wednesday, March 4, 2015 - The Institute of Preventive Medicine, Environmental and Occupational Health, Prolepsis,  in collaboration with Global Sustain and AB Vassilopoulos organized an informative event on: "Building partnerships against crisis: The DIATROFI Program as an example of good practice CSR".

 

The opening of the event was addressed by Athena Linos, Professor of Medicine and Chairman of the Institute, who highlighted that food insecurity and obesity are directly linked especially during periods of adverse economic conditions.

Ms. Afroditi Veloudaki General Director of the Institute , presented  the DIATROFI Program, its objectives and results. For the current school year, 16.028 students participate in the Program DIATROFI. All participating schools are located in areas of Greece with the highest food insecurity rates.

Ms. Anastasia Dipla, Kindergarten teacher in one of the schools participating in the Program DIATROFI for the third consecutive school year, referred to the significant results  of the Program as observed and experienced by educators.

Ms. Alexia Machaira, Communications and Sustainability Manager at AB Vassilopoulos presented the program "52 Weeks, 52 actions of feeding and caring throughout Greece" under which the DIATROFI Program is supported.

Dr. Athanasios Petralias, General Director of Research of Prolepsis Institute referred to the measurable results of the Program DIATROFI.

 The participants had the chance to taste meals of the Program DIATROFI as they are served in schools.

Major Donor of the DIATROFI Program is the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. The Program is also supported by the Welfare Foundation for Social and Cultural Affairs (KIKPE), the Greek NGO Program “We are all Citizens” which is part of the EEA & Norway Grants for Greece with fund operator the Bodossaki Foundation, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, AB Vassilopoulos, the insurance company MetLife, the Public Gas Corporation of Greece (DEPA), INTERAMERICAN, the Alumni Association of the School Moraitis and contributions by individuals.
