At the beginning and end of each school year, all participants are surveyed.  The results gathered so far indicate that in schools where the DIATROFI Program is implemented, during the school year 2019-2020:

  • food insecurity has decreased
  • children’s eating habits have improved
  • the number of underweight, as well as overweight and obese, children has decreased.

Additionally, the school principals, teachers and parents of the students report that:

  • social cohesioncollegiality and solidarity has been strengthened within the school community
  • the educational work of the school and cooperation and communication between parents and the school has been enhanced
  • school dropouts have decreased

Food Insecurity

The average index of food insecurity decreased by 7%, while 36% of the families who faced food insecurity with hunger at the beginning of the school year did not at the end.

Eating Habits

84.6% of students were asking for healthier food at home. Due to DIATROFI 59% of the students who did not consume fruits, now do and 48.6% of the students who did not eat raw vegetables, now do.
Furthermore, 89% of parents report that they buy and have healthier food at home.
