Distinction for Prolepsis Institute at the 14th Hellenic Congress of Nutrition and Dietetics & the 3rd Hellenic Congress of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism

The Prolepsis Institute participated in the 14th Hellenic Congress of Nutrition and Dietetics & the 3rd Hellenic Congress of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism which took place on November 24-26, 2017 at the Cultural Centre «Hellenic Cosmos». The scientific team of the Institute presented two scientific works with results from the DIATROFI school-based Food Aid and Healthy Nutrition Promotion Program which were distinguished with praise.

The DIATROFI Program at the VulnerABLE European project conference

The Prolepsis Institute participated in the final Conference of the project “VulnerABLE: Pilot project related to the development of evidence based strategies to improve the health of isolated and vulnerable persons”. During the meeting, good practices for improving the health of vulnerable social groups at a European level were discussed. The DIATROFI Program was presented as an effective intervention practice to support children and families in vulnerable social groups.

Participation of the Prolepsis Institute at a school educative meeting regarding the dietary habits of adolescents and the promotion of a healthy diet.

On Wednesday, January 20, Prolepsis Institute participated in the Workshop “Adolescent Nutrition” organized by the 4th general Greek High school of Galatsi in the context of the Program “Ready, Steady…Life: A Healthy Lifestyle Programme ERASMUS+ 2015 – 2017. In an auditorium full of members of the school community, Mrs. Elena Kritseli, Nutritionist-Epidemiologist of Prolepsis Institute, presented the basic principles of healthy eating, answered student questions and discussed topics related to adolescents’ eating habits.

The World Health Organization announced that processed and red meat can cause cancer on the basis of a report by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC, Department of the World Health Organization). According to the report supported by sufficient evidence, processed meats are classified by IARC as Group 1 carcinogenic to humans.
